Description

The Special Education position at Glenbrook Elementary School works in a team environment to the meet the needs of our over 500 students. Job Goal: To provide a multi level system of interventions and supports for students who have a wide range of learning, emotional, behavioral, physical and cognitive disabilities. Will teach in a collaborative effort of various subjects, such as reading, writing, math and social skills instruction in an inclusive setting. Qualifications: Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction special education certification, number 1810, 1811, 1801 or 1830 in the elementary school setting Ability to collaborate with parents, teachers, and community members in order to help students meet individual goals. Passion for teaching students with various challenges. (physical, ability, communication and/or behavioral) Must be willing to team teach and/or act as a resource to regular education teachers. Training and/or experience in teaching social communication and appropriate expected behaviors. Must have a desire to work in a collaborative, team approach in supporting students. Willingness to incorporate interventions in classroom activities Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong planning skills Experience with developing and writing IEP's A desire to promote family involvement in school and community Highly developed interpersonal skills Support the PLC process for staff Essential Job Functions: Must be able to: arrive at work promptly and attend regularly follow directions and work well with others work under the stress of deadlines concentrate and perform tasks accurately react to change productively perform other tasks as assigned Other Responsibilities: Demonstrated ability to: work collaboratively carry out emergency/crisis response procedures perform all computer technology tasks associated with the position maintain confidentiality communicate positively/effectively with students, parents, staff, patrons Commitment to the Pulaski Board of Education Educational Philosophy Demonstrates skills in positive human relations and cultural competence Demonstrates skills in problem solving and conflict management
