JOB TITLE: Special Education Teacher ResourceEMPLOYMENT TERM: Academic YearSUPERVISOR: Director of Educational Services/PrincipalSALARY: Appropriate placement on the District Certified Salary Schedule Nadaburg is a Four-Day School Week DistrictOVERVIEW This position involves working with students who have a variety of disabilities in grades K-8. The teacher will utilize engaging and research-based instructional techniques to advance student learning. In addition, the Special Education Teacher will design and teach appropriate curricula, assign work geared toward each student's needs and abilities, and grade papers and homework assignments. As schools become more inclusive, special education teachers and general education teachers increasingly work together in general education classrooms.

The Special Education Teacher will assist general educators to adapt curriculum materials and teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with disabilities.QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree from an accredited college or university.Must hold valid Arizona Teacher Certification with approved area/endorsement as needed for position.Must hold appropriate Special Education certificate.Must be Highly Qualified in subject area of position at time of hire.No convictions for felonies or crimes against children.Fingerprint Clearance Card.ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLSBe organized, patient, able to motivate studentsBe understanding of students' special needs, and accepting of differences in othersUse various techniques to promote learning.Develop and implement compliant IEPsReview the IEP with the student's parents, school administrators, and the student's general education teachers.Work closely with parents to inform them of their children's progress and suggest techniques to promote learning outside of school.General Duties: Support NUSD Vision, Mission and Goals.Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engages in meaningful leaning experiences.Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with carrying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvements.Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures.Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment.Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and schools.Assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals.Demonstrates gains in student performance.Participates in professional growth training.Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordination.
