POSITION SUMMARY:

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings through services outlined in Preferred Communities Intake and Referral Services for Ukrainians (PC-IRU) Grant. This is a one-year grant aimed at supporting Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolee (UHP) and Uniting 4 Ukraine (U4U) clients connect to public benefits, medical, and immigration services. EEO.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Welcomes Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolee (UHP) and Uniting 4 Ukraine (U4U) clients who have recently moved to Kansas completing intakes, making referrals, and connecting to services.
  • Review and/or complete assessments with Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolee (UHP) and Uniting 4 Ukraine (U4U) clients to identify barriers to self-sufficiency, including areas such as bill paying, housing, medical needs, public benefits, transportation, and connection to schools.
  • Document contact and services provided to clients, monitoring progress of case members over time with summary notes regarding the purpose and outcomes of that contact.
  • Maintain client files, including copies of all pertinent documents, and client signatures and dates on appropriate forms and receipts promptly.
  • Empowers Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolee (UHP) and Uniting 4 Ukraine (U4U) Clients through connections to community resources.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of developments and public policies affecting Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees (UHP) and Uniting 4 Ukraine (U4U) clients.
  • Collaborates with community partners and stakeholders to promote services and programs available to Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees (UHP) and Uniting 4 Ukraine (U4U) Individuals.
  • Participates in team meetings and trainings to assure appropriate communication and stay up-to-date on developments.
  • Maintains professional conduct with clients as identified in the NASW Code of Ethics and abides by all program policies and procedures and acts as a mandated reporter.
Requirements:

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English; fluency in a second language (Ukrainian or Russian) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work or human service field or comparable experience is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual without preference to any certain language, ethnic, nationality, or religious groups.
  • Ability to effectively utilize interpreters.
  • Strong typing & internet skills as well as the ability to learn Microsoft Outlook, Excel and various database programs.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and respond appropriately to people in crisis.
  • Must have competent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Catholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce.   • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and moving
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must have the physical ability to complete assignments in a variety of environments: homes of those we serve, extreme heat, humidity, dust, smoke, pet contamination, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases
  • Must have physical ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record.
