Work Location and Standard Work Hours
Home Base - Bellefontaine, OH.
Full-time
Primary Responsibilities
- Promotes transparency, teamwork, and trauma-informed care as the guiding principles of professional conduct to clients.
- Monitors activities and maintains shelter and ground security at the Soteria House.
- Works openly with and is culturally sensitive to consumers with diverse backgrounds.
- Provides emotional support through a non-judgmental stance, is ethically and culturally respectful of the uniqueness of each person's situation and uses trauma-informed support services.
- Maintains a working knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards to assure a safe shelter environment.
- Monitors compliance with shelter curfew hours for arrivals and departures.
- Organizes group activities for residents, both children and adults, to provide for pleasant activities such as arts and crafts, games, baking (mostly during 2nd shift and weekends).
- Assists residents with safety planning.
- Makes referrals for identified needs to program staff.
- Completes crisis intake (over the phone or face to face) for immediate emergency sheltering.
- Performs minor housekeeping or maintenance tasks as required
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment as well as in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, etc.
- Must be willing and has the physical ability to perform activities necessary to meet the basic needs of the consumer. Examples may include, but are not limited to, moving a consumer into a new living situation, assisting with shopping, teaching daily living skills, etc.
Required Education, Certifications, and/or Experience
- Education: High School Diploma or preferred Associates Degree in a related field
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of related field experience; preferably experience working with victims
- Certification: Valid Ohio Driver's License, reliable transportation, and appropriate automobile liability insurance.
- Other: Cell phone required.
Preferred Education Certifications, and/or Experience
- Has working knowledge of current laws and codes that impact victim's legal rights
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by TCN
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel) and basic computer software
