NEWMARKET SCHOOL DISTRICTJOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLERelated Services Provider(Include Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and Speech & Language Pathologist)EDUCATIONAL TRAINING / EXPERIENCE / LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: The Related Services Provider should have a masters degree in his/her field (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech & Language Pathology), should have a New Hampshire State License in that field, and should demonstrate an ability to communicate and work effectively with students, staff, and parents. The Speech & Language Pathologist should also have Certification of Clinical Competency or be working towards a Clinical Fellowship Year.POSITION SUMMARYEach Related Services Providers job is to deliver a variety of services in his or her area of expertise and to complete assessments for the purpose of educational planning. The Related Services Provider reports to the Director of Student Services.RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponsive Services1.Provide screening to identify children who may be in need of services.2.Provide diagnostic evaluations and implement treatment plans in relation to student needs. 3.Provide therapeutic services to students with a wide variety of disorders and delays, both individual and/or group for students aged 3-21.

4.Confer with teachers and staff members and offer suggestions/recommendations for implementation at school and/or home with follow-up for support as needed. 5. Assist the team to make necessary referrals for services from outside agencies.6.Work with parents in parent education to increase their constructive participation in resolving the child's problem and their knowledge and uses of appropriate resources available.7.Serve as a liaison between home and school and community services when considerable follow up is necessary.8.Act in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and policies with respect to confidentiality, suspected cases of abuse, and threats of harm or violence.Consultant9.Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement effective therapy that integrates the students program.10.Serve as a consultant to school staff members in the development of services.11.Assume responsibility for goal writing and serving as liaison for IEPs.12.Provide inclusionary services.13.Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community.14.Partner with parents/guardians, teachers, and mentors to assist students in utilizing and carrying out their plans.15.Consult and collaborate with school faculty, program coordinators, and parents/guardians to augment students positive transitions from grade to grade, school to school, and, at the High School, onto postsecondary success.16.Participate in an annual informal assessment to determine the degree to which the program of related services is being implemented. meetings and parent conferences.18.Establish and maintain two-way communication with parents, students, and other staff members in an honest, positive, and constructive manner.19.Serve as a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.20.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Administrator21.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records and Medicaid logs as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. 22.Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.23.Serve as a resource in developing proposals for grants related to position.24.Attend building and district meetings to promote communication and mutual decision making among staff and schools. Professional Responsibilities25.Fulfill the requirements of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility with regard to school level and school district policies, procedures, and regulations. 26.Understand his or her legal responsibilities, as defined by state and federal laws and regulations and school district policy, e.g., acceptable use of the internet, child abuse & neglect reporting, civil rights compliance, implementation of IEPs and 504 plans, student restraint, etc.27.Plan for and participate in professional improvement activities, e.g., courses, readings, in-service training, and conferences in accordance with his/her area of specialization and competency, so as to maintain professional licensure in accordance with his/her discipline.28.Maintain professional competence through in service education activities provided by the district and other self selected professional growth activities.29.Reflect critically upon his/her work and identifies areas for further professional development as part of an Individual Professional Development Plan, approved by the Building Principal, which is linked to school and district goals.30.Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Director of Student Services.
