Speech-Language Pathologist
Position Type: Day Shift; Contractual
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides professional and comprehensive care within the scope of agency services. Performs professional speech assessments/assignments, develops goals and objectives utilizing the methods and techniques through the person-centered-planning process (PCP) for adults and children; including individuals with a wide variety of speech, language, and swallowing differences and disorders. Monitors goals, objectives and attends service planning meetings as needed by striving to restore, promote and enhance speech performance. This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent recovery-based practices.
Job Requirements:
Master’s Degree Speech Therapy
Michigan Board Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
Vehicle Insurance
Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of speech therapy and developmental disabilities.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy and relate to individuals from all social, economic and cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge with augmentative/assistive communication devices and dysphagia preferred.
Ability to exercise independent and mature judgment.
Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Clinical awareness and sensitivity, including belief that individuals with development disabilities and mental illness can be meaningful participants in our community.
Knowledge related to special issues surrounding children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Provides services to individuals with a wide variety of speech, language, and swallowing needs. Focuses on communication in several areas such as language, cognition, fluency, resonance, and hearing as well as all aspects of swallowing, including feeding and related behaviors. Service delivery for this position encompasses collaboration, counseling, screening, assessment, treatment, and use of varying modalities and technologies to achieve desired outcomes of service recipients.
