At the Thermo Fisher Transplant Diagnostics business we are seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Senior Accountant to join our team in West Hills, CA.

The successful candidate will partner with the Accounting and FP&A management team and Accounting staff, operations organization and business management to support and drive special projects processes and improvements and leverage close and forecasting activities to ensure financial commitments are met. In such, this role will be involved in financial processes standardizations, financial documents reconciliations (P&L variances and Balance Sheet monthly recs), support during internal/external audit activities.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Performing monthly and quarterly accounting close activities as assigned.
  • Ensure accurate accounting records and GL reconciliations around all diverse accounting and intercompany processes.
  • Preparing journal entries and ensuring the timely closing of corporate’s books. Activities include review of close tasks, coordination and information gathering from business owners in order to prepare close analyses and entries.
  • Fixed Asset Management - Assisting business partners in crafting CAR (Capital Appropriation Request) and routing for approval, Build Asset Shells, check monthly depreciation run, build FA reconciliation and roll-forward schedules.
  • Revenue recognition - Key spreadsheets FOB Analysis, post deferred revenue aligned with TMO revenue recognition policy.
  • Prepares tax returns in multiple jurisdictions, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation. Monitor, research and support taxation issues
  • Preparing account reconciliations and taking the appropriate actions to clear all reconciliation items.
  • Supporting management reporting package and performing financial statement analyses and detailing meaningful explanations for fluctuations for management and auditors.
  • Working closely with external and internal auditors to ensure approved accounting policies are carefully adhered to and supervised and to support quarterly audit.
  • Be a key business partner to business operations leaders to meet financial goals.
  • Analyze metrics, trends, performance analysis and bring insights to division leadership team
  • Be proactive and strong in problem solving, trouble shooting, root cause analysis
  • Run ad hoc analyses to answer pressing questions
  • You have a strong attention to detail with an ability to work well with others

  • Other Ad-Hoc projects, requests on demand to support the financial close process.

Skills that will help you excel:

  • Sophisticated knowledge of excel.
  • Strong analytical or financial modeling skills
  • Experience and/or ability to learn and use Cognos, HFM, SAP or similar tools
  • Comfortable with large, sophisticated data and communicating findings to senior management
  • Knowledge of standard finance systems (e.g. Oracle, Hyperion, CMR, SAP)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance.
  • 5+ years of work experience in Finance or Accounting, with a proven understanding of financial reporting and analysis
  • Solid understanding of current US GAAP required - (Revenue Recognition, Lease accounting)
  • Strong SAP systems experience is required
  • Strong analysis and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong skills in MS Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Individual must be professional and able to optimally connect with all levels of the organization while consistently delivering accurate work products while managing multiple deadlines.

The salary range estimated for this position is $97,000 to $140,000. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
