Senior Legal Specialist – Practice Management

Location: Atlanta, GA; Columbus, OH; Dallas or The Woodlands, TX; Richmond, VA

Position Description

Serves as an initial point of contact for many legal matters within the US Oncology Network business unit, responding to contract questions and other legal issues, escalating to and working with team’s attorneys as necessary. Drafts, reviews, analyzes and negotiates agreements, amendments, and related documents, including providing guidance on contract positions to the business unit to ensure successful completion. Reviews portfolios of agreements and prepares summaries of relevant terms to assist attorneys and business in contract management. Agreement types include physician practice managed services agreements, medical director agreements, intercompany business partner agreements, and consulting, product/supply, technology and software services vendor agreements.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Draft, review, analyze and negotiate agreements, amendments and related documents
  • Identify and analyze risk, determine the level of risk and the required escalations, develop contracting strategies to mitigate exposure to risk
  • Collaborate with colleagues in various areas of the business including, privacy, security, risk management, information technology, finance, and other key stakeholders in the business unit to identify and address potential regulatory, legal and business issues
  • Prepare contract summaries, and contract clause and issue analyses, maintain current summaries and lists of key US Oncology Network contracts
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of McKesson business units, products, strategy, and operational models
  • Recommend and implement contracting policies, procedures and processes with business unit
  • Work independently and provide support and guidance on intradepartmental and departmental initiatives and projects.
  • Assist with administrative activities including contract filing, electronic document signature collection, delegation of authority compliance
  • Assist in implementation of contract management system for The US Oncology Network legal team
  • Access and use applicable legal and corporate systems, e.g. GEMS entity database

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years of legal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm

Critical Skills
  • 2+ years’ experience reviewing and revising complex commercial contracts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Office word processing programs or equivalent programs

Additional Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience working in provider, pharmaceutical, health information technology or other healthcare business environment
  • Ability to work effectively with business unit leaders and promote the reputation and integrity of McKesson and the McKesson General Counsel Organization
  • Experience working in a healthcare regulatory environment preferred, including healthcare fraud and abuse laws and data privacy laws

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equal experience

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$88,300 - $147,100
