We are seeking an experiened Sr. Manager of Visual Merchandising and Store Design for our San Diego location!
Join Road Runner Sports as our next Sr. Manager of Visual Merchandising and Store Design, you will contribute to Roadrunner’s success by driving sales through visual merchandising design concepts, solutions, new store construction and the development and implementation of store design plans for our retail stores. This role is responsible for ensuring that product merchandising is aligned with Roadrunner brand principles, marketing and merchandising objectives. Responsibilities:
What you’ll get to do:
- Responsible for designing, developing and implementing visual merchandising presentations to drive sales and profit
- Develop the look and feel of the Road Runner Sports brand for new stores, remodeled stores and other projects. This will include CAD/ Construction design to instore planograms to support all product , and provide clear communication to the field on placement
- Provide recommendations to merchandising and planning partners for optimizing the assortment and maximizing the visual presentation.
- Attend weekly business review meetings; develop and report visual updates that support immediate business needs
- Travel to stores frequently to ensure proper visual execution. Will require hands-on merchandising and floor moves
- Ensure consistency of visual presentation by coaching and training store teams/District Managers during periodic store visits
- Lead, develop and oversee the all aspects of the visual merchandising team and projects they support.
- Participate in development of signage/graphic rollouts with Merchandising, Marketing and Creative teams
- Develop and implement a cohesive visual merchandising plan for our retails stores which will include the regular update of visual merchandising guide to ensure it is current with the latest information and standards.
- Partner with Training Department on continually improving training materials.
- Collaborate with Creative, Marketing, Merchants, and Store Operations to ensure optimal in store experience, and product placement
- Set and manage seasonal calendars and schedules, including vendor coop, mannequin, and focus point change outs. Work with Merchandising Team to ensure key product strategies are well represented.
- Communicate floor changes, plan-o-gram updates, and approved Vendor POP through Monthly Merchandise Planner.
- Regularly communicate with store teams, via store visits, conference calls, phone calls and emails, to ensure that they are supported in realizing our goal of neat, clean, well-presented, and consistent stores
- Conduct administrative tasks; assisting with travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, note taking and preparing presentations
- Must be able to foster and maintain an atmosphere of open and positive communication and work effectively with all levels of employees.
- Partner with field leadership to plan, direct, and execute major floor moves, window changes, visual presentation standards, etc
- Drive retail improvement projects (remodels, face-lifts, etc) with re-merchandising.
Requirements:
- Experience in developing and implementing new store designs and store remodel.
- Experience creating planograms and merchandising schematics
- Experience in-store merchandising and hands on floor-sets
- Project management skills including reporting, measurement, and financial analysis
- Strong awareness of, and ability to incorporate current fashion and styling trends
- Ability to read and understand floor plans
- Experience concepting & designing displays
- Strong ability to sketch, communicate ideas & lead teams from concept through implementation
- Good understanding of space planning and environmental design
- Bachelors degree from a 4-year college or University in Art, Design, Fashion or related field or equivalent 3+ years proven visual merchandising experience at a corporate level and/or in a high-end retail multi-store environment
- Proficient in: Word, Excel, Illustrator, Photoshop, Powerpoint, and Outlook. CAD preferred, but not required
- Good planning & communication skills
- Strategic ability to see trends & plan new concepts
- Travel to, and participate in the set-up of all new store openings as required 30-40% travel
- Will require some heavy lifting, climbing on ladders
