Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant with American Trust is responsible for twice daily cash processing, quarterly invoicing, accurately collecting and applying accounts receivable and some reconciliations of bank and other accounts as assigned. The Staff Accountant will be part of a growing accounting team and should continuously look for ways to improve their processes and grow in their position.

The Staff Accountant is familiar with standard accounting procedures, can work independently on completing routine tasks and will work closely with their supervisor on more complicated requests.


Responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile cash activity twice daily.
  • Transfer cash between suspense accounts and corporate accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Collect and accurately apply payments received against outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in preparation of journal entries and financial reports.
  • Prepare quarterly and ad hoc invoices for two business lines.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and suspense accounts on a daily / monthly basis.
  • Assist with annual financial audits and other regulatory audits as needed.
  • Prepare various reports as needed to assist management and other employees of the company as needed.
  • Accurately record entries as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Assist in other accounting activities and projects as directed by your supervisor.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Always maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in an accounting role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically experience using Excel.
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes and software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills.
