Position Summary

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Staff Assistant to the Chief of Staff. Under general direction, this position will provide input and analysis to the Chief of Staff regarding sensitive and confidential strategies of management. The position will serve as liaison between the Chief of Staff and other administrative and support staff throughout the agency and in other agencies and organizations, while coordinating and performing special projects. Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as Staff Assistant to the Chief of Staff

2. Serves as liaison between the Chief of Staff and other administrative and support staff throughout the agency and in other agencies and organizations, including the Governor’s Office

3. Serves as the budget coordinator for divisions within the Chief of Staff’s area of oversight

4. Coordinates and performs special projects

5. Arranges and organizes staff and management meetings

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration

2. Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization

Preferred Qualifications

1. Three years of professional experience as an administrative assistant in a public or business organization

2. Three years of professional experience serving as a liaison for a public or business organization

3. Three years of professional experience conducting special projects in a public or business organization

4. Three years of professional experience conducting research in a public or business organization

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to pass a background check

2. Requires possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to travel
