The Large Military Engineering Mechanical Systems Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design leadership on the F110 derivative products and CDR, PDR, DDR execution on mechanical systems components such as bearings, seals, gearboxes, and drives.
  • Perform design activities consistent with Engineering Handbook requirements (applicable design templates, Design Practices, engineering standards, etc.)
  • Execute new designs/CIP projects by conducting analysis, maintaining program technical/schedule/cost requirements and working collaboratively across all functions of military engine production and sustainment.
  • Provide support to Product Managers by addressing customer concerns, estimating cost and benefits of engineering efforts, and supporting delivery of hardware.
  • Support Manufacturing/Sourcing by dispositioning case records, completing Significant Process Substantiation and assessing supplier change requests.
  • Perform assessment and dispositions for quality issues; (QEMs, PQARs) activities from stack analysis through testing and supporting field actions.
  • Coordinate hardware physical and functional interface requirements to eliminate fit and performance concerns.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years' work experience in engineering
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college
