What will you do?

  • Work with different types of experimental data and high throughput omics data, generated by platforms such as next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and proteomic data
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines for data analysis
  • Conduct data integration, analysis and interpretation of large-scale data sets
  • Apply bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and machine learning tools and approaches in data analysis
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D team members to design experiments, analyze data, and interpret results
  • Contribute to the development of new bioinformatics methods and software tools
  • Provide bioinformatics support to other groups within the company
Maintain strict confidentiality of proprietary data and resultant analyses
We are looking for a highly motivated and expert scientist to join our R&D team in Carlsbad California. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing data science solutions to support our research and development efforts. This role requires collaboration with different R&D teams across many locations.

How will you get here?
Education
  • PhD or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
Experience
  • Solid background in computational biology, bioinformatics, and computer science
  • Experience in analyzing large-scale sophisticated datasets of various types, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics
  • Strong programming skills in the R and Python languages, and others such as C/C++, shell
  • Experience with relational database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and SQL query language.
  • Experiences with Linux operating system
. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and databases such as BLAST, GenBank, and KEGG
  • Solid grasp of the scientific method and ability to apply it towards data analysis
  • Hands on experience using Machine learning algorithms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range estimated for this position is $112,300 -171,550 annualized. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
