Staff Accountant Job Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing full-cycle Accounts Payable, some Accounts Receivable, and accurately maintaining records to support the flow of financial information and monthly close procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including reviewing and processing invoices, processing the weekly check run, and reconciling the AP accounts
    • Maintain vendor and contract files
    • Maintain cash flow spreadsheet, vendor analysis spreadsheets, and AR cash log
    • Process AP month-end close
    • Moderate Accounts Receivable responsibilities include entry of ancillary charges to resident accounts and posting cash receipts and ancillary charges at month-end. The position will provide backup coverage for the daily census recording process.
    • Manage Resident Fund Management System, including payment of Patient Liability and Private Pay amounts due from Medicaid and Charity Care residents, distribution of petty cash, and reconciliation of the petty cash account
    • Document and maintain standard operating procedures for areas of responsibility, and look for opportunities to automate and improve daily account processes.
    • Assist other departments and personnel with questions or research regarding their financial statements
    • Assist with audit requests, such as preparing supporting documentation and schedules
    • Prepare and analyze ad-hoc financial reports

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

EDUCATION

Associate’s Degree in Accounting required BBA or BS in Accounting preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in a health care setting is required; experience in a hospital or skilled nursing facility is preferred.
