Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices to design, specify, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate structural engineering assignments. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential functions and responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design computations.
- Analyze geotechnical and survey reports, maps, drawings, photography, and other engineering topographical or geologic data to design, specify and plan projects.
- Design and develop construction documents using engineering, CADD, and REVIT software.
- Design projects in accordance with applicable Codes and Standards, client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
- Develop construction cost estimates and specifications.
- Develop engineering documents for permit, advertisement, and construction.
- Coordinate with internal and external team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline, budget, and established quality.
- Review construction submittals and requests for information.
- Assigned projects may include design and drawing preparation of buildings, industrial systems, waterfront structures, retaining walls, shoreline revetments, repair and restoration of existing structures, and bridge load ratings and repairs.

Required Skills
- Microsoft Office.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
- Use of structural design software.
Required Experience
- Minimum 4 - years of experience.
- Engineer-In-Training certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Preferred Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE)
- Experience working with federal, state and county projects.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
