Office of Student Conflict Resolution


Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the community standards of the university by participating in the administration of the student discipline system and assisting Office for Student Conflict Resolution deans with outreach, assessment, alternative conflict resolution services, and sexual misconduct investigations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct disciplinary investigations and administrative hearings in response to alleged violation(s) of the Student Code by individual students as well as student organizations (including fraternities and sororities) and, when appropriate, issuing formal sanctions up to and including Conduct Probation.
  • Assist OSCR deans in completing assessment projects, marketing and providing conflict resolution services, and processing reports of student misconduct.
  • Participate, under the supervision of an OSCR dean, in the investigation of alleged violations of the university's Sexual Misconduct Policy.
  • Investigate, under the supervision of an OSCR dean, alleged violations of the Student Code that fall under the jurisdiction of the subcommittees of the Senate Committee on Student Discipline, prepare any involved parties for a formal hearing where appropriate, and present the results of investigations directly to the faculty and student members of the subcommittees for adjudication.
  • Educate students, faculty, and staff regarding services available through the Office for Student Conflict Resolution by presenting to university groups and departments upon request, developing new outreach opportunities, and marketing these opportunities to the appropriate populations.
  • Work closely with OSCR deans to develop and provide comprehensive training to all members of the university's disciplinary committees.
  • Collect, analyze, and organize OSCR data for annual reporting, media responses, FOIA request responses, and legally required statistical reporting.
  • Work with OSCR staff to arrange and manage formal hearings of the Senate Committee on Student Discipline and its subcommittees.
  • Facilitate Office for Student Conflict Resolution's ethics workshop for students who have been found responsible for violations of the Student Code.

Qualifications


Required

Education:


  • Bachelor’s Degree


Experience:


  • One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in student conduct administration or student conflict resolution in a university environment.
    • SPECIALTY FACTOR: (Master’s degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
  • Demonstrated experience with student programming in a university environment.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.


Preferred


Education:


  • Master's degree preferably in higher education, counseling, or related field.


Experience:


  • Demonstrated experience adjudicating complex student disciplinary matters in a higher education setting (as a graduate student or as a professional).
  • Demonstrated experience working with students in crisis situations.
  • Experience managing highly confidential and sensitive matters.


Training:


  • Training in mediation and/or restorative justice.
  • Training as a Title IX investigator

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/15/2023. Salary begins at $50,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
