Overview

MercyOne Central Iowa operates four not-for-profit Catholic medical centers in Des Moines West Des Moines Newton and Centerville and two specialty hospitals – MercyOne Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds total) – along with more than 20 additional facilities that house more than 50 primary care pediatric internal medicine and specialty clinics. Responsibilities

  • Performs US procedures under the direct supervision of a registered cardiovascular sonographer until competency has been observed and documented. Once deemed competent in each procedure, may be performed under indirect supervision. Operates US equipment.
  • Provides care to adult and geriatric patients
  • Provides basic patient care activities such as assisting patients on and off tables
  • Maintains open and positive communication with staff, physicians, and other departments.
  • Presents a positive image to community and professional contacts.
  • Promotes professionalism with the department, clinic, and community; acts as a role model.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing exams as training progresses. Maintains the physical environment of the department in a clean, well-stocked, orderly manner.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any malfunctions to team leader/manager/Bio-med.
  • Manages and coordinates the activities of the US Department with other areas of the department and hospital to insure and maintain patient care.
  • Demonstrates proper phone etiquette and utilization of computers, including completion of exam data entry.
  • Attends hospital and department meetings and in-services.
  • Complies with OSHA/JCAHO and other regulatory agency recommendations and guidelines.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient/personnel information.


Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or completion of two-year Ultrasound Technology program
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. The acceptable credentialing body for this requirement is the American Heart Association

Pay Range

$16.26 - $22.36 /hour
