Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Student Services Specialist. This position assists with all Admission and Records (A&R) functions, supports faculty, staff, and student A&R requests / activities, and provides student services support and serves as an informational resource.
Essential Functions
40% - Supports the Office of Admissions, Records and Registration with the day-to-day functions related but not limited to; general admissions, registration, transcript evaluation, data entry (transcripts, processing/retention), graduation, front-line or multi-phone service, and international student admission. Student, faculty, and staff support; enrollment verifications and other student related documents.
20% - Assists with Special Admissions population including high school partners.
20% - Assists with coordination of projects for campus graduation and commencement.
10% - Provides administrative support which may impact service to other areas of Student Affairs.
10% - Performs general office functions such as; answering phones, faxing, preparing correspondence, and other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
OR
High school diploma/GED, and two (2) year of full-time equivalent student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
Desired Qualifications
A. One (1) year of experience working in an educational environment providing support services in higher education.
B. One (1) year of experience working with a diverse student population
C. One (1) year of customer service experience with a high degree of public contact including in person, telephone, and e-mail
D. One (1) year experience working in student services I.e. advisement, counseling, admissions, procedures including, online Student Information System (e.g., PeopleSoft) and working with federal and state requirements (e.g., lawful presence/residency determination)
E.One (1) year of experience working in a team environment
Special Working Conditions
May be required to work at multiple sites or locations
May be required to work evenings and weekends: i.e. Monday – Thursday, 9am-6pm Fridays 8am-5pm
May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation
May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor
