A Studio and Classroom Assistant with Providence is a professional, outgoing, and versatile individual seeking a role in a customer service-oriented position with additional responsibilities in pottery production. Whether publicizing community art classes, handling customer and student communications, maintaining a small retail space and community classroom, assisting customers, or handling retail sales and sales events- the Studio and Classroom Assistant will specialize in supporting customers, students, studio members, and production staff daily. When not supporting the retail space, the Pottery Studio and Classroom Assistant will assist with pottery production. The Pottery Studio and Classroom Assistant will provide exceptional customer service to event attendees, students and walk-in customers. This position will occasionally require evening and weekend hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Pottery Studio and Classroom Assistant
- Work closely with and under the direction of the Pottery Studio Manager ("Pottery Manager") to maintain the pottery studio’s retail space and community classroom space, community art classes, special events, retail sales, and outside sales events at Providence Center’s Pottery Studio.
- Post class schedules to the registration website, track student registration, update class roster, send invoices, and collect payment for classes.
- Work closely with the Pottery Manager and Communications Department to create class marketing materials for Providence Center’s website and social media accounts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all customers, students, and studio members.
- Complete administrative duties such as responding to emails, answering phones, updating the Pottery Studio’s online calendar, and sending out weekly and monthly emails.
- Review studio membership applications, complete studio member orientations, and provide support to monthly studio members.
- Oversee and maintain a small retail space within the Pottery Studio and community classroom space. Ensure spaces are orderly, create arts kits, update inventory, and keep shelves stocked.
- Assist the Pottery Studio in the fulfillment of wholesale orders according to the production schedule and in studio maintenance.
- Complete weekly inventory count in Paint Your Own Pottery and production pottery. Assist Pottery Manager with inventory, supply ordering, and purchasing of materials for classes and events.
- Report incidents or customer complaints.
- Attend and work at outside events as needed.
- Teach classes as needed. Assist art class instructors with set up or clean up for classes. Training Provided.

Education and/or Experience of a Studio and Classroom Assistant
- Required: 2 years relevant experience.
- Preferred: Associate or Bachelors in fine arts, education, or business.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge such as Microsoft Word, Internet Research and E-mail. The individual should be able to learn and use a POS system.
