AES is hiring for a Substation Design Engineer (Level 1 or 2). The role is hybrid working at the office in Dayton, Ohio Tuesday - Thursday. You may work from home on Monday & Friday.
The ideal candidate will live in Dayton, Ohio, or be willing to relocate. AES is offering relocation assistance. Plus, we offer a competitive pay and generous paid time off of 22 days each year.
This position is responsible for the engineering and design requirements for new and existing substations throughout the AES Ohio (formerly Day system. Provide assigned engineering design for all or parts of substations, carrying out specific job assignments including: preparation of specifications, evaluations of proposals, design of physical substation layouts and control systems, construction management and field engineering. Provide support for projects of various complexities and assist with project documentation procedures. Respond to emergencies including long duration customer outages and storm service restoration.
Software used for this role is Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD.
Responsibilities:

Perform specific assignments by learning and applying effective engineering, planning and organizing skills.

Perform engineering calculations involving less complicated engineering applications of substation systems.

Assist in the planning, design and construction management of substation projects.

Assist more experienced engineers in root cause failure analysis to avoid future failures.

Work under supervision of experienced engineers, receives guidance in the use of DP&L engineering and construction standards as well as utility industry nomenclature and guidelines.

Participate in a career development program to increase value to Company and self including participation in professional organizations.

Assist in maintaining substation design standards and information systems.

Assist Storm Teams and System Operating to re-energize substation feeders and restore service to customers..

Complete assigned special projects including research, analysis and recommendations to Management.

Perform other work as assigned by Manager.
Education required:

Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences
