We are looking for Per Diem Substitute Teacher's to join our Elementary School & Preschool located in Glen Cove, New York! Tiegerman is a special needs program servicing children from preschool through high school. At Tiegerman, our mission is to identify children with language and autism spectrum disorders early to provide educational programs which will prepare them for a world filled with words, sentences, stories and messages.

Daily Rate: $200/per day

Job Description: It is the responsibility of the Sub teacher to manage student learning in accordance with the directives of the school and the classroom teacher, and to work collaboratively with all members of the school staff. The Sub Teacher reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities:

• Review and implement established lesson plans that are aligned with the New York State and Common Core Learning Standards, and students’ IEPs utilizing the school’s established curriculum when a teacher is absent.
• Adapt instruction and materials to meet the individual needs, strengths and interests of all students as indicated in the lesson plans.
• Supervise students in the classroom and all other areas of the school building.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom according to the classroom management plan, Behavior Intervention Plans and student Code of Conduct.
• Communicate the expectations of teacher assistants.
• Maintain a professional relationship with students, colleagues, administrators, parents and other community members.
• Collaborate with members of the educational, therapeutic andadministrative staff to implement instructional and behavior management goals and methods.
• Understand, comply with and support all policies and procedures of the school and classroom.
• Assume bus duty and any other responsibilities of the teacher for whom they are substituting.
• Utilize highly effective communication (oral and written) to provide clear and accurate information and maintain professionalism with students, colleagues, administrators, parents and all other professionals.
• Report incidents (i.e. accidents, unsafe conditions, suspected abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the health and welfare of students and the safety of the school environment in accordance with state regulations and school policies.
