Job description
Primary Function & Position Overview:
As an educator at Public Prep Academies we encourage our students to build independence as learners. We fully support the development of our educators to broaden their interpretation of culturally and linguistically diverse students’ learning behaviors. Lead Teachers at Public Prep elementary schools are held accountable for the academic and social-emotional success of each of the students in their classes and must consistently plan for, and monitor the progress, of each of their students in order to meet this responsibility. The Lead Teacher reports to the Academic Director or Principal.
Lead Teachers meet regularly with their grade-level team members and other collaborators in order to address planning curriculum, analyzing data, organizing and developing family communication, discussing and implementing academic and behavior intervention, and academic learning goals for all students. They are responsible for content instruction in mathematics, English Language Arts, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
Lead Teachers in the Arts will support arts integration in Math/ELA content areas and develop arts integration projects that support scholars’ Math/ELA skill development and social-emotional learning as they build artistic skills in visual art, dance and/or theater. Scholars will showcase their skills in a culminating performance for friends and family during the final week of Summer Arts Boost.
The Instructional Leadership Team supports Lead Teachers in maximizing their performance and that of their students. Lead Teachers receive frequent feedback and observation, coaching cycles, and professional development based on the Charlotte Danielson framework for teaching.
