YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking Camp Leaders across our region along the beautiful gulf coast of Florida (Bradenton to Bonita Springs). What do Camp Leaders do? The job duties of a Camp Leader depend upon the role, We are seeking: Junior Counselors, Senior Counselors, Assistant Site Coordinators, Site Coordinators and Specialty Camp Leaders.

Responsibilities having fun, making friends and most important-Being a Role Model! Daily activities may include include planning summer camp games, attending field trips, educating children and teenagers and setting up equipment. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Leader. If you’re patient, energetic but strict when needed, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Plan outdoor activities or sports for groups of campers
• Implement weekly or daily schedules.
• Lead recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, sports or crafting)
• Escort and oversee children
• Educate campers through games and explorations
• Set up and maintain equipment.
• Address behavioral issues
• Make sure all safety rules are followed
• Ensure camping site is clean and organized.
• Keep accurate incident logs

Skills

• Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
• Proven experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children preferred
• Familiarity with camping and various outdoor activities
• Patient and reliable
• Organizational and communication skills
• A love for children
• Energetic and positive personality
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job and be outside for extended periods
• First aid- and CPR-certified preferred
• Must be 16 years of age or older

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $12.00 - $17.88 per hour
