Job Title: Finance, Office & HR Specialist
Location: Groveland, CA; in the Sierra Mountains just outside of Yosemite National Park
Dates of Employment: May 22 - August 19th, 2023
- Dates of Employment (remote): May 22 - May 26, 2023 and August 13 - August 19, 2023
- Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour while working remote
- Dates of Employment (at camp): May 29 - August, 12 2023
- Salary Range: $3,600 - $4,385.00 plus room and board while working at camp property.
About Camp Tawonga: Camp Tawonga is a residential children’s summer camp located outside Yosemite National Park. The campers range in age from 7-17 and participate in 1-week, 2-week, or 3-week programs throughout the summer. The Camp Tawonga Staff is a dedicated group of 200+, working together to create a vital Jewish community where children thrive. This outstanding team includes people with both Jewish and non-Jewish backgrounds.

Job Purpose and Description
The Finance, Office & HR Specialist is a newly created position that contributes to the mission of Camp Tawonga through a variety of key functions related to new hire onboarding, providing administrative and financial support to our Finance Department, and acting as the HR & Finance presence whilst at Camp Tawonga property in the summer season. This role is responsible for collecting all required new hire documentation for the summer program team and ensuring late arrivals have completed required training whilst working at camp during the summer. This position works closely and collaboratively with members of the Program Department in ensuring compliance w/state and federal guidelines as they relate to new hire onboarding. This position will work directly with Tawonga’s finance department over the summer in processing credit card transactions and providing administrative support to the summer office as needed. This position reports directly to the Staff Accountant and is indirectly supervised by the Staffing Coordinator.

Human Resources
- Collect and process new hire paperwork including, but not limited to the following:New hire contracts &/or Offer letters
Form I-9 supporting documentation
Form W-4 Tax Withholdings
Form DE4 CA State Tax withholdings
Summer Staff Working Policies (2023)
Live Scan/Background Check results
- Coordinate w/new hires at camp to complete training content, sessions, and/or new hire paperwork
- Support the Staffing Coordinator in ensuring timely completion of Live Scans by new summer staff
Finance Support
- Record and track cash flow at camp in Summer Financials Reconciliation sheet
- Manage at-camp safe, distribute cash advances and collect receipts and change
- Assist at-camp credit card holders by gathering transaction details/receipts and uploading info in credit card management system
- Assist Directors in reviewing and approving credit card transactions for staff
Summer Office Support
- Provide great customer service for all staff, campers, guests, and families
- Answer incoming calls on the camp phone and forward messages as needed
- Answer the gate radio, greet and orient guests to Camp
- Sort all incoming and outgoing mail and packages
- Fulfill canteen orders daily
- Maintain organized canteen inventory and re-order as needed
- Complete large printing jobs including camper and staff observation forms, schedules, alert lists, unit lists, address labels for camper postcards, and other administrative support as needed
- Support Office Manager as needed
- Maintain camper files
- Keep the office supplies organized and well-stocked, re-order as needed
- Help any walk-in administrative needs and assist Directors with office related needs
- Keep Office and Staff Kitchen clean and presentable
Other
- Assist with setting up and cleaning up staff buffet once day per week as part of shared rotation
- All other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Training, Experience, Skills, and Qualities
Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)
- Able to maintain an approachable and appropriate attitude when interacting with all levels of personnel in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality regarding sensitive employee information
Preferred
- At least one year of prior administrative experience or comparable experience in finance, accounting, and/or human resources
- SHRM or PHR certification is a plus!
- Professionalism while collaborating with varying managerial levels
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions in routine situations
- Appreciation for living in a communal setting over the summer
Supervision
- This position reports directly to the Staff Accountant
- This position reports indirectly to the Staffing Coordinator
Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary, and non-benefited position. The pay range for this position is $22 - $26.00 per hour while working in The Bay Area or remotely, and shall be paid 3,600.00 - $4,385.00, if the employee completes the entire summer camp season at camp property, from May 25th - August 12th, 2023, plus room, board and other staff services.
All staff must adhere to camp-wide and position-specific COVID related safety protocols. Staff are required to be up to date on all vaccinations including COVID-19, provide negative COVID test results prior to arriving for work and will need to get periodically tested throughout the summer. We will provide hired staff more information upon hire or as more information becomes available.
