Summer Nursery Pollinator

The Position

Weaver Popcorn Hybrids is looking for hardworking, motivated individuals to work in their popcorn breeding nursery. Employment period is approximately 5-7 weeks long between June 26th - August 11th. A typical workday is 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Saturday. Starting pay is $13/hour plus time and a half for anything over 40 hours each week. No experience necessary but compensation will be based on experience, job training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

• Performing corn hand pollinations in the breeding nursery
• Detasseling in isolated crossing blocks
• Other field tasks as assigned by supervisor

The Location

Operations are based out of New Richmond, IN. Reliable transportation to the research station or research field is required but travel to and from popcorn fields can be provided. Nursery and isolated crossing blocks are located between New Richmond and Crawfordsville, IN.

Requirements

• Must have reliable transportation to and from the nursery
• Must be comfortable working all day on your feet, outside in a corn field
• Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions including high heat, sun, wind, and rain

* Must be at least 13 years old, in keeping with Indiana Ag working age
