Job Summary
The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for performing custodial duties, supervision of janitorial crew, scheduling of janitorial crew, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.
Primary Duties

  • Assist in maintaining a personnel structure to accomplish goals in an effective and efficient manner. Ensure that staffing is enough to provide required services between operation hours each workday.
  • Create cleaning schedules for each shift, which will include the daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annual service requirements. If applicable, develop shift foremen to effectively oversee routines of workers on their shift.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a quality control program to assure that the requirements of the contract are met.
  • Maintaining an equipment structure and level to accomplish the goals in a safe and effective manner.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory control and ordering system for consumable supplies. Ensure that adequate supplies are maintained but ordered in excess of requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide the Project Manager and with required feedback including a daily report listing project work completed and problem areas or situations, and monthly reports as detailed on the contract.
  • Supervise employees in sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing floors.
  • Ensure that employees transport trash and waste to disposal area and replenish supplies.
  • In the absence or callouts of workers, help perform all duties of a Custodian including but not limited to the following duties: sweep, mop, scrub floors; Clean assigned areas; Wash windows, door panels, and sills. Empty wastebaskets, and empty and cleans ashtrays. Transport trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Notify Project Manager concerning need for major repairs.
  • Transport small equipment or tools between buildings or within a building.
  • Interview and recommend applicants for employment.
  • Continually and critically evaluate all assignees work activities as a base for developing more informative data for management decision making, increased efficiency and/or reduced cost.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
  • Two years’ experience or training in custodial/janitorial services required.
  • Supervisory experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must have experience operating and training others to operate cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
  • Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software; Excel spreadsheet knowledge, a plus.
