JOB SUMMARY

Working under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Support Services Director Healthcare oversees the health care facility's support services departments. Areas supervised include laundry, Environmental Services (housekeeping), plant operations and grounds, security, and materials management. The Director will serve as the liaison for the Legacy plant operations team. The Director will assist in setting priorities for each department. Manages the development and administration of the provider organization's policies and procedures as they pertain to support services. Develops, implements, and administers the effective, efficient, and safe operation of nonclinical support activities.

Directs and oversees Materials management policies, objectives, and initiatives. Oversees the purchase of raw materials, supplies, and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees and assists managers and supervisors with the department finances including preparation, implementation, and management of budget, capital, expenditures, inventory control, statistical documentation, and cost containment.
  • Responsible for strategic direction of CCH properties for renovation and construction.
  • Oversees and/or implements personnel management within the departments in area of responsibility, including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, evaluating, disciplining, and scheduling to maintain adequate staff to meet department needs.
  • Oversees the construction projects with contractors, architects, engineers, inspecting authorities and ensures compliance.
  • Oversees the materials management department.
  • Oversight with managers and supervisors to schedule employees so that appropriate staffing is maintained.
  • Responsible for manager and supervisor performance appraisals and discipline in area of responsibility.
  • Maintains skill level and knowledge base and keeps current on industry trends through continuing education.
  • Actively participates in a customer service program for the department and organization. Actively prepares for and participates in all regulatory inspections/surveys.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Maximizes GPO contract compliance by coordinating with other Department Managers/Directors and Senior Leadership. Manages the supply expense through contract compliance, supply expense reduction, utilization programs, and implementation of inventory management techniques. Analyzes supply expense, PAR levels, contract compliance and tracks KPI metrics monthly. Focuses on improving standardization and utilization of supplies throughout the organization.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws, and regulations, and CCH policies and procedures.

Education, Training, Experience:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Licensure
    • CHFM preferred – CEU’s required for professional certifications
  • Experience
    • Five (5) experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Certifications
    • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR)
  • A high degree of judgment, planning, and initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, supervisory management skills, analytical skills, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of applicable standards for regulatory agencies such as TJC, OSHA, NFPA, DNV and Wyoming State Department of Health.
  • Must be able to adequately manage multi-departments, buildings, and projects.
  • Able to communicate positively under stress with patients, visitors, contractors, employees, and co-workers.
  • Ability to supervise and manage in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide mentoring and or discipline to the staff as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and support teamwork.

Hours of Work: As scheduled; Variable to meet departmental and organizational needs.
