Job description
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing and completing multiple projects from start to finish. The Project Manager also directs junior level staff.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts including scope, schedule and cost
- Provide guidance and direction to office staff and field crews
- Perform document research
- Prepare boundary, topographic, as-built and other types of surveys
- Prepare legal descriptions
- Perform and prepare most types of land surveying plans, reports and documents
- Calculate, setup and check stakeout for construction projects
- Manage the financial aspects of projects; invoicing and collections
- Ensure quality assurance/quality control of project deliverables
- Compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and reports
- Communicate technical information to those with and without technical understanding
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects, subconsultants and internal groups
- Proactive and responsive communication with clients
Essential Qualifications:
- 4+ years of survey experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related area
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Project management experience
- Experience with managing support staff
- Organized and detailed oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral including the ability to compose letters and complex reports and to orally communicate technical information to others
- Demonstrates the highest degree of ethical behavior and candor
- Knowledge of the principals, practices and procedures of land surveying, and standard of care
- Confident, enthusiastic team player with a passion to work in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, stay focused, set clear milestones and execute diverse projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
- Able to perform in an environment that requires independent evaluation, judgment and decision making
- Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate with others to explore alternative solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe and AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D)
Essential Position Requirements:
- Occasional regional travel required
- Ability to work additional and/or nonstandard hours, as required
