Systems Engineer

Location: Kettering, OH
Schedule Type: Hybrid/flexible (primarily remote)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and define system control and diagnostic algorithm requirements for Suspension Damping and Air Leveling Control Systems to meet customer and product requirements
- Develop system control and diagnostic algorithm models in Mathworks Simulink & Stateflow
- Interface with the customer to refine and allocate functional requirements
- Interface with system and software engineers to optimize design architectures
- Establish traceability between product functional requirements and test cases
- Support test case development relating to control and diagnostic models
- Support functional software validation testing utilizing computer models, HIL hardware, bench test equipment, and development vehicles
- Support ISO 26262 System Safety process
- Contribute to functional software requirement and design documentation
- Support functional software design, implementation, and verification
- Support vehicle application and calibration development
- Contribute to vehicle and functional software issue resolution
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (EE, ME or CSE preferred)
- Experience with Mathworks analysis and modeling tools Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow
- Knowledge of C/C++ programming language
- Familiarity with data acquisition and instrumentation concepts
- Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts including embedded microcontroller software/controls
- Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
- Experience and/or interest in embedded control system development
- Experience and/or interest in automotive system development and test
- Outstanding technical problem solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with team members of other disciplines or departments
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with common computer applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- 1-3 years of experience in embedded control system development
- Knowledge of basic vehicle dynamic principals
- Experience with Brake, Suspension, or Vehicle Control systems
- Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (GMLAN, CAN, Ethernet)
- Knowledge of debugging, testing, and verification techniques
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 System Safety Concepts
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Cradle, Doors, PVCS.
- Familiarity with software test tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR
