The position’s primary responsibilities will be support and development of software systems. Under the Team Lead’s supervision and in collaboration with the Data team, the Systems Engineer will:
- Analyze business processes and collect requirements.
- Design and develop ASP.NET Web API and MVC web applications utilizing Javascript/CSS/HTML.
- Design and develop web applications using a 3-tier application architecture.
- Set up web applications in IIS on Windows servers and perform maintenance.
- Create applications in the Cloud development environment, such as AWS/Azure.
- Develop REST APIs in C#.
- Develop stored procedure, views, user-defined functions in SQL Server.
This Engineer will work with other IST personnel, as well as Subject Matter Experts from other County departments to collect requirements and design and develop applications.
As part of the dynamic Digital Solutions group, this engineer will manage simultaneous deadlines in the performance of the duties listed above, as well as additional related responsibilities that may arise. This Systems Engineer will be a part of a proud and collaborative team that provides the County residents and community with innovative digital solutions and superior services.
Work Schedule and Remote Work Options: Some duties may be performed remotely and options for a hybrid (telework/onsite) work schedule are available. However, the successful candidates must be able to report to County facilities for various meetings and work assignments upon short notice, as needed and when deemed appropriate. This position may also be asked to work at nights or on weekends in the event of emergencies.
The ideal candidate has the necessary technical knowledge, experience, and traits to implement and support digital solutions and products, including:
Eagerness and willingness to learn new skills and technologies in a rapidly changing web application ecosystem.- Web Application Development, including application development in the Cloud, such as AWS/Azure.
- Understanding of Web Application Architecture and Web Server Architecture, such as IIS
- Understanding of Rest API
- Familiarity with version control tools like Git and GitHub
The Minimum Qualifications for this position are:
Any two-year combination of professional experience, certification, and/or relevant coursework that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. Examples include:
- Twelve (12) semester units of coursework from an accredited program and in a discipline relevant to the assignment is equivalent to a full year of related professional experience.
- A completed certification program relevant to the assignment and knowledge and abilities necessary of the role.
- A training program with evidence of completion providing the knowledge and abilities necessary of the role.
- An internship and/or apprenticeship providing the required knowledge and abilities of the role.
- Relevant professional experience demonstrating knowledge and abilities necessary of the role.
