Job Summary


AS a Systems Software Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring stability, integrity and efficient operation of information systems for the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Included are all MNIT DOC managed or supported software, applications, equipment, and services used by the agency for business, institution, technology, and security operations. The responsibilities span the management, review, evaluation, implements and maintaining critical operations of information technology for the assigned region.

You will to provide technical leadership, project management, infrastructure design, and advanced infrastructure support for the designated region. This person will work in partnership with MNIT Enterprise teams to support agency information systems along with providing advanced technical or critical support to end users, System Technicians, and System Administrators.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a remote telework location and an employee wil be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies.
  • Candidates residing outside of Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) require additional review prior to telework approval upon becoming a finalist.
  • Candidates located in Minnesota, or a bordering state, do not require additional review.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience with computer technologies, server support, and networking.

Experience must include:

  • Active Directory Management or other LDAP based solutions
  • Security and application controls, such as Group Policy Objects GPO, ESM, CSP, windows firewalls, Cisco firewall, maintenance contract tracking systems
  • Installation, configuration, and functionality of Active Directory/server-based productivity application suites (Active Directory Services, LDAP, DNS and GPO)
  • Experience using Information Technology ticketing systems
  • A clear understanding of core Cloud Computing services with Azure platform

A Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three years of experience, related Bachelor's degree may substitute for two years, or related Associate's may substitute for one year.*

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud computing to design, manage, and maintain: log analytics, configuration of networks, Hypervisors, load balancing, and automations
  • Experience with Cisco Umbrella, Cisco ThousandEyes, and SolarWinds applications
  • Experience in change management and server patching coordination
