The Talent Acquisition Specialist is important to Lincoln’s recruitment process, particularly in building a positive applicant experience. He/she serves as a key resource for our applicants and campus community, often being the first point of contact for our applicants in responding to questions or inquiries about Lincoln’s career opportunities, and a primary contact for hiring managers at the initial stages of the recruitment. This position reports to the Vice President for Human Resources and is a benefits eligible full-time position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and administer the entire recruitment and classification processes for bargaining units and professional administrative positions
- Consult with hiring managers to build acumen and understand the needs of the department and open role
- Translate hiring needs into effective recruiting strategies to manage active and find passive qualified applicants; proactively reach out to passive candidates via career websites and social media platforms such as LinkedIn; and maintain contact with hard to find skilled applicants to keep them interested in LU opportunities
- Partner with hiring managers to serve as a talent advisor to source, qualify, screen, assess, offer, hire candidates for open staff positions, and ensure a stellar candidate experience
- Advise in the areas of staff classification and compensation, including equity and EEO considerations; to collaborate with the Benefits & Compensation Specialist to review and analyze job descriptions to determine classification and FLSA (Fair Labor Standard Act) status.
- Communicate regularly with hiring managers and interview teams throughout the search process
- Utilize best posting strategies; make recommendations and assist departments with ad placements to target desired audiences
- Develop and conduct training for managers and supervisors on all aspects of employment recruitment
- Ensure managers comply with the recruitment process
- Handle all candidate communication during the interview and hiring process: status updates, rejections, etc.
- Manage the application and offer processes: verbal offers, offer letters and other paperwork, and compensation negotiations
- Collaborate with the hiring manager and ensure that reference checks, background checks, and drug-screenings have been completed to satisfaction
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of new hire orientations
- Assess and streamline recruitment processes
- Utilize LU technology recruiting tools. Network with LU colleagues and others outside of LU
- Remain up-to-date on current industry and technology trends in the field of Talent Acquisition and changes impacting university recruitment
- Develop and prepare regular and ad hoc reports and metrics
- Participate in or facilitate special projects
- Perform administrative duties associated with full life cycle employment such as:
- auditing new hire information in the online recruitment system compared with HRIS data
- verifying that new hires and promotions in Paycor have associated search information to ensure data integrity
- Represent LU at public events, such as job fairs and community job outreach programs as needed
- Close job postings as requested by our campus community
- Provide support for faculty hiring as needed and ensure that all faculty positions are in compliance with job posting requirements and processes
Additional duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the assessment of training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers.
- Contribute to the creation, organization, planning, and presenting of various forms of skills training for employees.
- Assist with the development of unique training programs to fulfill workers' specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
- Present training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, and videos.
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field or experience required; Master’s degree preferred. Specialized HR training or PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred
- Minimum of three to five years of related professional experience in recruiting, an administrative role, or operations role
- Experience using employee data management systems, and the ability to learn new software programs is required
- Previous experience assisting with onboarding processes
- Experience using behavioral interviewing techniques
- Experience working in a fast-paced college or university setting or complex not for profit organization preferred
- Experience assisting with and implementing talent development initiatives is desired.
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of HR requirements in compliance
- Quality experience in human resource employment practices, compensation, and confidentiality with a high level of discretion.
- Ability to interpret and apply employment laws, rules, regulations, and policies
- Customer-focused, organized, timely in accomplishing tasks, adept at balancing competing priorities requiring good judgment, and strong attention to detail
- Collaborative attitude with the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with diverse candidates and employees at all levels
- Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication, negotiation, technical documentation, and interpersonal skill
- Well organized, strong administrative abilities
- Firm understanding and implementation of recruiting metrics to drive decision-making is strongly preferred
- Exceptional ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assignments in a timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to protect confidential and/or sensitive information and maintain integrity in record maintenance
- A team player who contributes meaningful ideas, is adept at problem solving, and improving processes and has the superior ability to work independently
- Proficiency in applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional image
- Commitment to professional development for career advancement
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Physical Demands:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body ability to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
