Overview:

SageSure, the insurance first, tech-forward, capital-lite managing general underwriter that focuses on the underserved, preferred homeowners middle-market, is seeking a Tax Manager that reports to the Chief Accounting Officer. You will be developing and implementing SageSure's corporate tax strategy and managing all aspects of SageSure's tax reporting function including working with tax advisors and providing tax information to the organization's members.

This position will work a hybrid schedule from our office in Jersey City, NJ.

What you'll be doing:

• Reviews and submits tax related documents or filings, which may include federal, state, or local tax returns, declarations, or extensions.
• Prepares tax planning reports and estimates the organization's tax obligations.
• Advises senior management on strategies for minimizing the organization's tax liabilities.
• Stays abreast of tax code changes and ensures ongoing compliance.
• Develop internal tax policy and process documentation.
• Identify tax issues and make recommendations for solutions.
• Develop and maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
• Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve profits.
• Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws.
• Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports and review tax filings.

We're looking for someone who has:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting and 6+ years of experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of tax concepts and principles.
• Certified Public Accountant.
• Tax experience in insurance companies and insurance related fee-based businesses.
• Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and clearly communicate the benefits of tax initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for partnerships, limited liability companies and C-corporations.
• Strong relationship management and practice development skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet filing deadlines and focus on details.
• Ability to multitask while working independently or with others in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to research, interpret and apply sales and other non-income tax laws.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

• Master's in taxation or Master of Laws in Taxation degrees.
• Five years of experience in a nationally recognized public accounting firm.
