What you will be doing:
- Review and prepare complex income tax returns for individuals and businesses (Partnerships, C-Corps, S-Corps, Estates, Trusts, non-profits, etc.)
- Review financial records to determine forms needed to prepare return
- Compute taxes owed, follow tax form instructions and tax tables for federal, state, and/or international income tax compliance and planning
- Research tax laws for preparation of atypical returns or consulting engagements
- Review tax provisions of corporations
- Review and prepare quarterly tax estimates and year-end tax projections
- Assist with tax-related client issues, research, and transactions
- Handle federal, state and local tax audits & correspondence
- Communicate directly with existing clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives regarding various tax matters
What skills & experience you need to succeed in this role:
- CPA and/or EA certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field required
- Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred
- At least 5 years of tax preparation experience of individual, pass through entity and corporate returns
- Display sound business and professional judgment
- High degree of self-motivation and self-investment
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- Committed to excellence and dedication, works well under pressure and with client deadlines
- Detail oriented and ability to multi-task, possess excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Willingness to learn and be challenged
- Competence with tax compliance and research software; including GoSystems (preferred), Lacerte, or other Tax software
