We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative professional to join the Latin America Tax Team in Tampa, Florida and take responsibility over tax compliance of a diverse group of jurisdictions across the Region; leveraging external experience, best practices, technology, and innovation pursuing enhancements to the existing tax functions to support continuous and sustainable growth. This role will be focus on properly documenting tax compliance for primary Argentina, Chile & Central America, filing accurate returns by avoiding penalties, meeting internal or jurisdictional tax deadlines and improve compliance routines with technologies. This role will be partnering with the Senior Tax Manager, coordinating an external team and working closely with local finance and business teams to ensure a proper filing of the tax obligations.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the elaboration of the local country tax calculations in LATAM region, primary Argentina (value added tax, provincial sales tax, electronic invoicing regulations, surtaxes and local & foreigner withholding regimes and other local taxes) and support the Sr Manager on specific requirements of tax compliance related to Chile, Venezuela & Central America.
- Work with the operations team, legal, country controllers and other stakeholders.
- Partner with our tech teams to come up with automated solutions to the compliance process and lead implementation if needed.
- Work with outside advisors (if needed) to support tax positions.
- Month-end financial reporting activities - including variance analyses, prepare/review specific tax account reconciliations, Lead income tax accounting and reporting under IFRS and US GAAP. Including local quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, including deferred income tax calculations and RTPs.
- Responsible for managing tax payments, including monitoring payment dates, calculating correct payment amounts, maintaining cash tax payment forecast schedule, and ensuring payments are properly made and booked.
- Review annual income tax returns and coordinate the elaboration with external advisors.
- Be current with changes in tax laws that could impact the Company’s operations.
- Support LATAM Tax Sr Management on potential ways to optimize tax processes and sets up compliance procedures.
- Provide tax support for local business, connect with the Sr Manager to advise, and help actively on educating business partners on relevant changes in tax legislations.
- Build a strong networking across tax, finance, customs, treasury, legal, HR, and with external resources to ensure compliance with local legislation and escalate to the Sr Manager possible areas of opportunities.
- Look for technology initiatives to create effective calculations and financial models to support tax returns and provisions.
- Identifies potential tax compliance issues, performs research, and make recommendations to prevent & resolve tax issues.
- Tax codes setting in the system to ensure accurate withholdings application
- Work with Tax Technology to ensure that Indirect Tax law changes are maintained and approved.
- Support the Sr Manager on responding notices from various tax authorities and internal requirements.
- Ensure SOX compliance in relation to reporting controls by properly documenting processes.
Main Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field + 6 years of combined tax experience in public accounting or a large multinational company with a corporate tax department or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- CPA certification or foreign equivalent.
- Experience with tax rules in Latin American countries, especially Argentina.
- Proficient in English & Spanish skills (written, reading, and speaking).
- Knowledgeable in the areas of LATAM business practices and tax complexities.
- Exposure to a large ERP system, in particular SAP and One Source/Tax stream would be advantageous.
- Advanced skills in Excel functions (pivot tables, macros, filters, etc.)
- Good understanding of accounting and tax principles; prior tax return preparation experience a plus.
- Open to the possibility to eventually travel within LATAM region.
- Experience in a tax in-house position and having problem-solving demeanor and deep understanding of the business requirements.
- Team player with good collaborative skills who is confident in communicating with others and can work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and comfortable to work with an external team.
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to deliver accurate documentation and task completion.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a time sensitive environment. Detail oriented and organized.
- Open to receive feedback and keen on continue developing within the Organization.
- Deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations to come with possible solutions to be discussed with the Sr Manager.
