Location: Special Education-Maywood Academy
Basic Function:
To manage academic, social and emotional needs of children with disabilities in various Special Education programs.
Responsibilities:
1. Assessment, curriculum development (IEP) instruction and evaluation of students with disabilities.
2. This teaching position requires deep knowledge of behavior management and trauma informed instruction, as well as literacy, math and instructional skills concomitant to the Common Core Learning Standards.
3. Serve as liaison between students, regular educators, CSE and parents.
Job Qualifications
A. NYS teaching certification in General Special Education K-12 or Students w/ Disabilities 7-12 (will consider Students with Disabilities 1-6).
B. Teaching experience with students who have a variety of disabilities.
C. Willingness and ability to embrace new challenges and ideas, and to work as an integral part of a team.
