Job duties : The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for the execution of the design and development of pneumatic and/or hydraulic brake systems, track brakes, and controls for passenger rail transit vehicles. Engineering Team Leaders support Mechanical, Electrical and Test and Commissioning departments. The primary objectives of this position are to develop the braking systems on-time, within the approved budget, and specification compliant while achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and minimizing or mitigating risks.

Essential functions include: maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies; comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations; understand and comply with applicable standards ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO/TS 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, and CMMI); maintain and safeguard business records; review customer specifications and create clause-by-clause documentation in response; perform system performance calculations; prepare technical proposals, acting as the lead; develop system specifications and documentation, such as system descriptions, tests, and analysis; develop system schematics (piping diagrams); create system bill of materials (BOM), keep it updated, and provide costing/weight estimates per system BOMs; monitor/ensure specification compliance and create waivers when required; provide customer feedback to design engineers and project management; provide engineering task schedule input to project management; review and approve customer manuals and training materials produced by the Engineering Services Department; develop component specifications to meet requirements of the system; provide quarterly project updates to Senior Staff and Department Managers regarding project progress; mentor new or inexperienced Systems Engineers, including day-to-day guidance and accompanying them to the field or customer site; plan department work and priorities together with the department manager on a weekly basis; function as a lead technical resource; and provide support and assistance to other colleagues, as directed, and any other duties as requested.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s in Systems or Mechanical Engineering field. Eight (8 ) years of experience as a Mechanical, Project, or System Engineer (or related). Three (3) years of experience with mechatronic brake control solutions for metro subways and railways, including system design, system braking calculations, train integration, implementation, train-wide static testing, and high-speed performance testing. Must have experience with industry standards pertaining to rail transit brake systems. Domestic and international travel up to 20% (visit customers at their facilities, which may be manufacturing plants, maintenance depots, or test tracks). May work remote two days per week.
