Position Summary:This position helps create solutions as part of an engineering team. They work to find defects, determine the causes of those defects, and provide solutions to defected problems. This position is responsible to assist and facilitate the development, design, and implementation of the quality and continuous improvement systems for the St. Marys facility. Through communication, innovation and knowledge of the carbon/graphite manufacturing process, this position will provide leadership to enable the company to provide its customers a quality product in a timely manner and implement changes that will help reduce cost and improve productivity.
Key Accountabilities:
Participation in support of Production Processes and Products:
Review RFQs for customer requirements, review blueprints and specifications, document quality plans and specify work centers and times for Inspection requirements.
Determine quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures
Monitor the entire production cycle and perform regular tests to identify potential risks
Work with internal teams to increase next step customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products
Review and disposition non-conforming product both in-process and final inspection
Participation in Structured Problem Solving Process:
Perform Root Cause analysis and implement corrective actions for various system problems identified (This may include leading a team of individuals)
Verify that corrective actions have been performed as documented.
Participation in Customer Complaints:
Communication with customer service to determine nature of complaint
Complete an investigation of the root cause of the complaint through inspection of quality records and communication with production personnel
Determination of appropriate corrective action to be taken in response to customer complaint
Disposition and inventory management of returned material (if applicable)
Compose written response to send to customer (when requested)
Participation in Control Plans, Change Control and SPC:
Work with Operations to develop and maintain product family Control Plans.
Maintain Control Plans via the establishment and usage of Change Control Boards
Set detailed guidelines on what needs to be checked and what the quality standards are.
Implement and maintain SPC data in-process and at final Inspection.
Implement and maintain SPC data on CTQs from Internal/External Suppliers
Analyzes data by completing hypothesis, normal distribution and process capability tests
Participation in the SGL Lifecycle Process and Stage Gates:
Work with SGL Management team to develop and maintain SGL’s Lifecycle Process and Stage Gates
Facilitate Stage Gate meetings to ensure compliance of gate deliverables
Report Stage Gate/Process KPIs to SGL Management Team
Participation in the Internal Audit Plan:
Audit our systems based on ISO 9001:2015 requirements
Provide support during internal and external customer audits.
Perform audits according to the monthly Layered Audit Plan
Assist in Product Certification during any absence of personnel
Customer Audits – assist when customer complaints or corrective actions are to be audited
Represent SGL at customer locations for meetings concerning the conduction of DOE’s and capability studies, by both SGL and customers, that result from customer complaints
Generate and distribute various quality reports for facility as required
Complete any required Measurement System Analysis or Gage R&R studies.
Your Profile:
Bachelor's degree in technical field (Engineering), preferred
Professional association certificate preferred (ASQ)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, statistical software, digital photography, Shovue, SAP
