Position Description:

The responsibilities of this position are wide and varied; including: providing “help desk” support via phone and e-mail to users and servicers of HPI’s products; conducting training classes and seminars on operating, servicing, and maintaining Hartzell products; tracking field problems and working with the Product Engineering Group to develop solutions; writing and reviewing service literature; providing on-site support for operators and OEM’s; attending trade shows and visiting operators and aviation facilities to answer technical questions; adjudicating warranty claims; and AOG support.

Key Deliverables:

1) Provide help desk support for customers / maintainers of our products.

2) Provide warranty processing support, analysis and reporting.

3) Assist with development of maintenance manuals and service literature.

4) Provide feedback to engineering regarding product issues and improvement opportunities.

5) Attend IA seminars and trade shows to provide technical support and training in our products.

6) Develop maintenance training programs/presentations for our products.

First Year Success Factors:

1) Develop a working relationship with distribution and OE customer base.

2) Develop an understanding and working knowledge of the warranty and service issue database.

3) Develop skills to review and create maintenance manuals and service literature.

4) Develop a working understanding of each of our products:

a) Through reading and understanding the maintenance manuals;

b) By performing hands-on product assembly, tear down, and returns evaluation;

c) By attending, and later assisting in, product training classes for field students;

d) As they relate to specific airframe / engine types;

e) By learning troubleshooting procedures for their systems.

Requirements:


Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science preferred or equivalent experience; A&P license.

Required Technical Competencies:

1) Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of general aviation systems

2) Strong troubleshooting skills

3) In-depth understanding of blue print reading and drawings

4) Ability to visualize from sketches, photos and verbal descriptions

5) Knowledge and use of standard hand tools and measuring tools

6) Basic understanding of inspection methods

7) Strong technical writing skills

8) Ability to read and interpret technical manuals

9) Basic understanding of Aviation vocabulary

10) Strong communication skills including the ability to present technical information

11) Basic computer skills; (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)

Desired Secondary Technical Competencies:

1) Strong Interest in Aviation

2) Pilot’s license

3) Repair station experience

4) Inspection Authorization
