Situation in Organization

  • The Technical Service Representative reports to the Technical Service Director for the Consumer & Construction business unit (C&C)


Job Dimensions

  • Responsible for technical support of our OEM customers
  • Responsible for technical support of our pro channel customers
  • Responsible for performing all Technical Service duties
  • Perform laboratory work and testing procedures; including benchmarking competitor products vs Bostik’s
  • Assist R&D team with product field trials and evaluations
  • Assist Sales team with Key Customers
  • OEM product technical data sheet reviews


Activities

  • Manage all bond testing and adhesive studies with OEM’s products
  • Evaluate and field trial R&D formulations for New Product Development
  • Manage all OEM related inspections and jobsite visits
  • Technical writing – letters and reports
  • Complaint resolution thru Salesforce.com in conjunction with the Technical Service Director
  • Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations.


Context and Environment

  • Job responsibility focuses on 80% OEM and 20% pro channel work
  • Job responsibility focuses on 75% bond testing/field trials/benchmarking, 15% complaint / inspection resolution and 10% customer training
  • More than 5 anticipated out of territory travels annually


Accountabilities

  • To provide product knowledge and support to our customers; both internal and external across North America. This includes managing testing/field trials and resources needed for the Technical Service role. Customer support must be technically sound and sufficient to assist their needs.


Qualifications / Experience Required

  • Hands on experience in the flooring industry
  • Past history of flooring installation
  • Excellent communicator – verbal and written
  • Technical writing and computer skills
  • Minimum HS diploma and post HS technical school strongly preferred
