TIG Welder
Summary:
Reporting to the Accessory Shop Supervisor, the Welder will be responsible for using TIG and GTAW welding techniques to weld various components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Essential Job Duties:
As a Journeyman Welder, additional responsibilities shall include:
- Performing any combination of duties to assist in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc spraying.
- Moving work pieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck.
- Lifting, moving, and holding or clamping work pieces to table, into jigs, or into position manually or by using pry bar.
- Bench, peen, roll, forge, stretch/shrink to restore dimensional sand structural integrity on various engine hardware.
- Use file, bench grinders, hand grinders, etc., to perform welding preparation, defect removal and manual dimensional restoration.
- Perform layout, setup, and weld on a variety of aircraft engine component parts and assemblies.
- Use argon chambers and gas backups.
- Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Overtime as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- 1-year minimum weld experience (verifiable) and/or equivalent weld schooling
- Demonstrate ability to work from prints, sketches, planning, or verbal instructions and weld a variety of parts and assemblies.
- Proficiency in the fabrication of heat sinks and related items for performing individual weld operations.
- Read measuring instruments, including air gauges.
- GTAW experience verifiable or equivalent schooling for GTAW.
- Ability to work in area where there is moderate noise intensity.
- Ability and willingness to work in an area where due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
- Ability to have a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to certify within 30 days after placement and complete timely periodic certification thereafter.
Wage Scale: $22.35 - $29.06
