Job Summary

The Tournament Manager will assist the Athletic Program Coordinator in implementing the youth baseball and softball tournaments hosted by Whitewater Parks and Recreation located at Starin Park. The Tournament Manager will assume a managerial role, which involves performing duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Athletic Program Coordinator. Equally, the Tournament Manager will help create and maintain a positive environment for all participants, spectators and staff.
Salary dependent on qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.


  • Check in pre-registered teams
  • Track and record scores of games
  • Enforce tournament and park rules
  • Arbitrate any competition disputes
  • Address any concerns or conflicts
  • Encourage and enforce good sportsmanship
  • Manage other staff members including score keepers, concessions, field maintenance and umpires
  • Assist field maintenance crew when needed including field prep and other maintenance needs
  • Assist with concessions which may include cooking, cash handling and cleaning
  • Administer awards when needed
  • Allocate appropriate supplies and equipment to necessary fields prior to competitions; collect supplies and equipment after competitions
  • Provide exemplary customer service
  • Act as point person during emergency situations
  • Help maintain a safe and friendly environment for participants, spectators and staff

Education and/or Experience


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent;
  • Previous tournament and baseball field prep experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of sporting events (baseball, softball) a plus.
