Overview
SCCI is seeking a System Trainer to provide instructor-led training, curriculum development, and technical documentation inputs/editing for a fast-paced developmental Weapon System program. A successful Candidate brings a highly technical ability to learn complex systems, and communicate them in an effective manner. Travel for Training Events is required (approximately 20%, with surges up to 50% several months each year). This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.
Responsibilities:
- A key to this position is the ability to independently develop and provide system training from end-to-end, including the creation of instructional materials, as well as the in-person classroom and platform based instruction
- Learn the technical baseline of the system and system upgrades and enhancements (prior to system release) via several pathways
- Participate in engineering discussions, supporting local test events, and obtaining details from subject matter experts and system developers
- Understand the technical content and communicate that knowledge to a variety of audiences via several approaches: Procedures (e.g. Installation, Testing, Operation), System and Component Behavior Descriptions (e.g. User’s Manual and Engineering Documentation System Descriptions, Training Curriculum), Graphics (e.g. Flow charts, Connection Diagrams)
- Participate in Flight or Shipboard Training and Test events
- Participate as a Qualified Flyer; Requirement of additional certifications (Flight Physical, Altitude Test, etc.) can be obtained during employment
- Develop Curricula, Lesson Plans and Courseware for Operators on a variety of platforms
- Develop, format and revise user documentation including Software Users Guides, Training Curriculum, Quick Reference Guides, and Troubleshooting Procedures
- Conduct training for operators, trainers and engineers
- Format, revise, and provide quality assurance on system engineering documents including interface control documents, interface definition documents, system specifications, and specification change notices
- Work closely with hardware, software, and systems engineers to review existing documentation and identify discrepancies
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the systems requirements, functions, and behaviors
- Adapt and communicate technical information in a precise and clear manner
- Coordinate extensive training efforts between different organizations to meet event objectives
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in a technical field or BS/BA in Engineering, Science, Education, Instructional Design or a related field
- Three (3)+ years of Training experience
- Strong background with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze source data for the purpose of developing curricula and course materials
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to successfully contribute in a dynamic team environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience developing operational training curricula and providing operator training for major weapons systems
- Experience with DOD System Development and Acquisition Processes
