Training Specialist & Project Coordinator- Sexual Health Education Program (SHEP)

SUPERVISOR: Program Manager

COMPENSATION: $23.07- $27.19 / Hour

The Objective: You will provide sexual health training to youth-serving adults and education to the community. You will also support higher level work within the Responsible Sex Education Institute.

Success: You will know you are successful when youth-serving adults you train leave your training sessions confident in their ability to deliver sexual health education that is trauma-informed, age and developmentally-appropriate, inclusive, free of fear, shame or stigma, based on the content you have developed and delivered.

Snapshot: Your days will be spent training youth facing educators and leaders. About 80% of the training is delivered virtually. On occasion you will lead in person group facilitation on various sexual health lessons for a variety of audience levels. You will work flexible hours with occasional weekends and evenings.

Qualifications:

  • You are very comfortable discussing sexuality and can confidently train peers on how to deliver content.
  • You consistently communicate ethically/effectively, and facilitating difficult conversations come naturally to you.
  • You are organized and have excellent time management skills.
  • You hold an associate’s or bachelor's degree or come to us with equivalent experience.
  • You may be bi- or multi-lingual.
  • You may have already worked with RSEI as a Program Specialist or have similar job knowledge.

Primary Areas of Responsibility / Essential Functions:

Promote the Delivery of Outstanding Sexual Health Education: The core of your job is training fellow youth-serving adults (teachers, counselors, social workers, nurses, etc.). on how to deliver quality sexual health curricula and ensuring others have access to the learning and empowerment it offers. You will cultivate relationships with community leaders throughout CO, NM, WY and NV to expand access to PPRM education resources. You will equip youth-serving adults with models and other teaching resources. You use data to monitor progress and measure success, learn from what works and what could be improved, and look for ways to increase reach. To do this, you will:

  • Facilitate training to youth-serving adults across the affiliate
  • Be a contact for community partners and address their program questions
  • Periodically review website to ensure accuracy
  • Manage and fulfill orders of birth control kits, anatomy boards, lesson plans, etc.
  • Prepare and send teaching materials as needed to the youth-serving adults you work with
  • Create and or customize training content in collaboration with your team as needs evolve
  • Provide innovative ideas for curriculum modification in response to feedback you receive
  • Maintain and promote program goals and objectives, collect, and monitor program data for tracking and monthly reporting.

  • Participate in departmental or agency programs and projects outside of primary program. This could include participation in ICYC, Sexual Health Educator Program, facilitation of Sex Education for All Levels programming, updating and improving developed lessons, training internal staff through New Employee Orientation or other Learning & Development programs and/or agency conferences, participation in task force work, and/or the development of specialized skills.
  • Work with managers to develop innovative ideas, programs, and revenue generating products. Assist in the development of new material and innovative strategies to improve educational programs.
  • Serve both as a formal and informal mentor to newly hired specialists throughout the RSEI.
  • Train & manage volunteers and/or interns assisting with education work, when applicable.
  • Lead task forces and special projects within the department.
  • Work interdepartmentally to forward the mission of the Institute in a positive and productive manner.
  • Serve as a representative and content expert for PPRM & RSEI at community meetings for networking, promoting health center and education services, and working toward larger, community-wide health goals.

COVID-19 Vaccine & Booster: PPRM requires that all employees are fully vaccinated and boosted as a condition of employment. An employee is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or one dose of a single- dose vaccination (Johnson and Johnson/Janssen). The COVID-19 vaccine booster shot is required by the first day of employment, or five months after receiving the final dose of the original vaccine series, whichever is later. Proof must be uploaded upon starting. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) on your first day of orientation.

Flu Protocol: All employees working directly with patients or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient contact or while in the health center from October 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season). The flu shot will be available to health center employees in the health center in addition to being able to seek the flu vaccine externally through the medical plan or reimbursement.
