Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
To recruit, admit and enroll students who will perform successfully in the collegiate community. Daily contact with the public, including contact with professionals in all disciplines of the University, is involved. Contact involves an accurate knowledge of relaying Admissions policies and procedures set forth by the University and the Office of Admissions. The office engages in a wide range of activities designed to publicize and describe the programs, activities, and other opportunities available at UNCW.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Transfer Admissions Coordinator serves as a key member of a successful transfer admissions team. This position:
  • Recruits a class of highly qualified and diverse transfer students
  • Manages an assigned geographic region
  • Evaluates applications for admissions
  • Participates in on and off-campus recruitment events
  • Meets and communicates effectively with students, community college faculty and staff, and other key community stakeholders
  • Represents UNCW at events and in the community
  • Applies related policies and regulations of the UNC System, UNCW, and the Office of Admissions
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience
  • Strong public speaking, writing, and technical skills are required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage competing, conflicting demands while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with others to achieve goals
  • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse groups of students. and a commitment to building a diverse student body
  • A valid driver’s license is required
