By joining our Owenton Section Office as a Transportation Engineering Technologist Supervisor, you’ll plan, assign, supervises and reviews the work of employees in a Department of Highway Section office and manage and supervises engineering functions including highway construction and maintenance.

By joining our Owenton Section Office as a Transportation Engineering Technologist Supervisor, you’ll plan, assign, supervises and reviews the work of employees in a Department of Highway Section office and manage and supervises engineering functions including highway construction and maintenance.
Holders of this Job Title will complete tasks such as:
- Manages the construction inspection and routine maintenance programs including monitoring the construction project and routine maintenance budgets.
- Plans, assigns, and supervises work of the section office staff in order to meet the objectives of the construction inspection, routine maintenance and other engineering programs.
- Serves as the point of contact for elected officials and the general public in addressing complaints.
- Coordinates work with other section offices, engineering functions, attends team meetings, and stays abreast of major issues and changes in the Operations Management System (OMS) and SiteManager programs.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of engineering-related experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: 1. Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors OR 2. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR an associate degree in an engineering field OR 3. High school OR 4. High school
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: 1. Must have four years of engineering-related experience with the first education option above; OR 2. Must have seven years of engineering-related experience with the second education option above; OR 3. Must have ten years of engineering-related experience in which case related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option above; OR 4. Must have ten years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a Qualified InspectionTeam Leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
