Barlow Truss Inc. has immediate full-time openings for motivated, hard-working individuals looking to join our truss production team!
The Truss Assembler #3 is an entry-level position that performs repetitive assembly operations to mass-produce wood trusses by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pack and stack trusses in the designated location.
- Unload carts (Can be done alone, but it is recommended that two people perform this duty together.)
- Stack boards for sawyer.
- Remove cart from behind the saw, when necessary, always replacing it with another cart.
- Put the correct truss plates in the correct location, before setup is complete.
- Place connector plate in the proper location on each joint and splice.
- Label trusses, when required.
- Stamp trusses.
- Band trusses.
- Help with quality control.
- Exercise proper safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Keep trash conveyor and area under saw reasonably clean.
- Empty trash carts, when they are full.
- Report any problems to Floor Supervisor.
- Work closely with other employees.
- Perform any and all other functions and duties that may be assigned by the Floor Supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 18 years of age or older
- Preferred high school diploma or GED.
- Prior assembly or carpentry experience helpful.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Work boots required.
COMPETENCIES
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Verbal expression ability to effectively present information, in both individual and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to read tape measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand for 10 hours a day; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- The employee is continuously required to walk.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must continuously lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklift fumes, saws, and airborne saw dust particles.
- The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Will be required to wear ear plugs for noise protection as well as eye protection and other personal protective equipment required by the location.
BENEFITS
- Holiday Pay after two (2) months

- Vacation after one (1) year: 40 hours; after two (2) years: 80 hours
