We’re currently seeking part-time tutors!

As a tutor you will:

• Review classroom or curricula topics and assignments during the first 5 minutes of each tutoring session

• Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks

• Work with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom

• Teach skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills, and approaches to answering test questions

• Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments, including research and writing tactics

• Develop materials to supplement classroom lessons, including study guides

• Conduct practice tests to track progress, identify areas of improvement, and help set goals for exam preparation

• Provide students with positive and constructive feedback using a 4:1 ratio

• Offer feedback on progress to students’ parents and teachers where appropriate

• Build meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds

• Instruct students both in person and over video chat

• Recognize different learning styles and student preferences

• Implement an individually designed behavior intervention plan

• Implement an individually designed reinforcement schedule

Job Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of a specific subject or expertise in test preparation

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions and deliver feedback

• Ability to motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies

• Creativity and flexibility in order to personalize their learning approach for individual students

• Patience and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance

• Optional certification from the National Tutoring Association, American Tutoring Association, Association for the Coaching and Tutoring profession, or the College Reading and Learning Association

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent

• 1-year experience preferred
