Job description

Hello, and thank you for your consideration in applying to our tutoring company, winner of bes tutoring company in Orange County two years in a row!
Our company values quality education above all else, and are currently looking for tutors that share our vision, to join our team. Our institution works seven days a week to improve the education system, and provide the highest level of education to all those who want it, regaurdless on standing. We believe quality Education is a right, not a privilege. With so many education companies and institutions overcharging and under-delivering, working on bandaging surface issues as opposed to focusing on underlying causes, we believe it is our duty to dig deeper, and help students establish themselves in their educational pusuit, so they may better be able to learn themselves.
Our clients satisfaction is evidenced by our staggering student retention and progression rates. We can’t wait to share vision with and train more educators to better assist their students.
We are a multifaceted company, working and partnering with many different organizations, classes, and groups. We work with students ranging from pre-K through adult, in all common core subjects, elective subjects, and enrichment programs. These base hours will all be performed at two locations, in Santa Ana and Irvine, and will pay a total average of $35 per hour ($50/hour for the classes and $27.50/hour for after-school homework assistance). Tutors will work with small groups of elementary students whome are struggling with their assignments, helping them complete homework and bring their grades up. For this reason, tutors must feel comfortable and have experience teaching all subjects k-6.
Additional hours working with private students 1:1 MAY be available in an AS NEEDED basis (as students become available). These hours will be performed in students homes, and will pay at a rate of $35+ per hour, however additional hours cannot be guaranteed, and are delegated as new clients become available.
We are currently only looking for general tutors who can teach all subjects for elementary and early childhood grades. MUST be able to tutor for basic sciences, history, and English, as well as math. BIG BONUS, if you are able to teach Spanish as well.
Early childhood tutors require specific skills that differ from tutoring for different grade levels. Elementary tutors must be engaging and approachable, with good classroom management skills. It is important that elementary tutors are able to keep students on task, while also motivating them and delivering positive reinforcement. If you consider yourself a “shy” person, this may not be the position for you.
Though our primary focus is to find tutors who can teach pre-K through 6th grade, we would ideally like to find tutors who can teach above and beyond this as well. The more grades and subjects a tutor can teach, the more clients we can pair them with.
Workable Hours will vary depending on tutor availability, with our average tutor having 7 hours per week. Since this is an independent contractor position, hours of work are up to the discretion of the tutor. Tutors have the option of working from 1-20 hours per week (though we are primarily looking for candidates with at least 5 hours of availability per week).
Since the majority of our students are in primary school, it is important that tutors have afternoon hours (3-7 p.m.) available.
Once again, elementary students require patience and practice, so please read job responsibilities below-
Job responsibilities and skills include:
-Applicant must be organized, able to teach test prep, study skills, and organization.
-Applicant must be professional and EXTREMELY punctual.
-Applicant must be very responsive (especially through text messaging). Clients require quick responses, and our company relies on prompt responses from our tutors, in order to pair clients with a tutor in a timely manner
-Applicants must have AT LEAST 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience
-Applicant must be willing to travel up to 30 minutes (though we try to keep travel times closer to 20 mins max). We pay higher than many other tutoring organizations to account for travel time.
Points to reiterate:
1. we are not looking for applicants who specialize or can only teach on subject; we need tutors who can teach a wide array of subjects. The majority of students are struggling with self regulation and time management due to distance learning, so we need patient individuals, who are knowledgeable in many areas, that can re-teach what they learned in school, help with homework, and study for tests.
2. One of our most important rules is that tutors respond to text messages and emails promptly.the majority of communication will take place through text messages, so we expect that all tutors respond within 1-2 hours during regular business hours (though we expect even quicker responses). Failure to communicate properly, or stressing the 2 hour rule, will result in contract termination.
Right now, we do not have a need for online tutoring, so we are only looking for applicants willing to do in person tutoring. Spanish and mandarin speaking is a huge plus as well, but not mandatory.
The jobs will be around Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine, fountain valley, and Huntington Beach; so please be prepared to travel to these places.
Thank you for reading, looking forward to hearing from you soon!
