HECLA LUCKY FRIDAY

The members of the Mine Construction crew work on underground mine projects needed to maintain safe working conditions and help advance production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Perform duties required to ensure safety and to support the mining advance, including scaling loose rock from the walls and roof, drilling and installing rock bolts, extending and installing air and water pipes, ventilation, operating ore loading machinery, constructing timber supports and cribbing, and rehab of existing access.
  • Read and understand maps and plans for projects.
  • Read and understand utility Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate equipment including, but not limited to, telehandler, fork lifts, scissor deck, loaders, haul truck, skid steer, and transmixer.
  • Operate and maintain the slick line.
  • Install timber.
  • Steel construction.
  • Install hydraulic power packs and limit switches.
  • Install spray chambers and cooling coils.
  • Install fans.
  • Handle, transport, and store explosives.
  • Operate slusher and jackleg.
  • Install bolts.
  • Apply dry and wet shotcrete.
  • Install laddertubes.
  • Operate cubex drill.
  • Perform welding.
  • Jumbo or jackleg blasting.
  • Operate a plasma cutter.
  • Raisebore operation.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the workplace.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required.
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as required.
  • Must meet criteria established in the Mine Operations Progression System (attached).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Proven safe work record required.
  • Excellent attendance history required.
  • Willingness to work in team-based environment required.
  • ATF possessors clearance required.
  • Must complete MSHA 40-hour training or provide 5000-23 documentation of completed training.
  • Must pass physical and drug screen, and essential functions capacity test.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
